Richard Leibler is recognized among Jewish contributors to Technology & Engineering — Co-developed the Kullback-Leibler information divergence.

How & why

Richard Leibler was a mathematician and cryptanalyst who, with Solomon Kullback, introduced the Kullback–Leibler divergence, a measure of the difference between two probability distributions that is central to information theory, statistics and machine learning. He worked for decades in U.S. cryptologic research. He was Jewish.
