Nedrick Young was an American actor and screenwriter who was blacklisted after invoking the Fifth Amendment before the House Un-American Activities Committee. Writing under the pseudonym Nathan E. Douglas, he won the Academy Award for Best Story and Screenplay for 'The Defiant Ones' (1958), and was later Oscar-nominated for 'Inherit the Wind'. He was Jewish.
