Morris Stoloff was an American film music director who led the music department at Columbia Pictures from 1936 to 1962, overseeing scores for hundreds of films. A child-prodigy violinist who studied with Leopold Auer, he won three Academy Awards — for Cover Girl, The Jolson Story and Song Without End — and scored a million-selling hit with 'Moonglow and Theme from Picnic.' He was born to a Jewish family in Philadelphia.
