Mitch Miller was an American Jewish conductor, oboist and record producer who became one of the most powerful figures in 1950s popular music as head of A&R at Columbia Records. Born to a Jewish family in Rochester, he later hosted the hit NBC television sing-along series Sing Along with Mitch and released a string of best-selling choral albums.
