Michael Fekete is recognized among Jewish contributors to Science & Medicine — Analysis; Fekete's subadditivity lemma

How & why

Fekete was a Hungarian-Israeli mathematician who worked in analysis and, later, helped build mathematics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he became rector. He is known for Fekete's subadditivity lemma, a widely used tool guaranteeing the existence of certain limits, and for work on the transfinite diameter. He was Jewish and emigrated to Mandatory Palestine in 1928.
