How & why
Menahem Pressler was a pianist who co-founded the Beaux Arts Trio in 1955 and led it for over half a century, making it one of the most celebrated chamber ensembles in history, while also teaching generations of musicians at Indiana University. He fled Nazi Germany as a teenager, reaching Palestine before settling in the United States. Pressler was Jewish, born to a Jewish family in Magdeburg.
