How & why

Mark Hambourg was a Russian-born British classical pianist, a pupil of Theodor Leschetizky, who became one of the most celebrated virtuoso pianists of the early twentieth century and a prolific recording artist, especially in the music of Beethoven and Liszt. Born to a Russian-Jewish family, he settled in England and toured worldwide. He came from a notable musical family that included his brothers, violinist Jan and cellist Boris.
