Born to a Jewish family in Lwów and raised in Australia after his family fled Europe, Feldmann worked in London where, with Ravinder Maini, he identified the protein TNF as a key driver of rheumatoid arthritis and pioneered anti-TNF therapy, now used by millions of patients. He was knighted and shared the Lasker Award for this work.
