Mae Questel was an American actress and voice artist who was the original voice of Betty Boop and, for decades, of Olive Oyl in the Popeye cartoons — among the most enduring female voices of the golden age of animation. Born into a Jewish family in the Bronx, she also appeared on screen, including as Woody Allen's mother in 'New York Stories.' Her vocal performances defined two iconic cartoon characters.
