Linda McCartney was an American photographer, musician and animal-rights advocate whose intimate rock portraits of the 1960s captured Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles and many others; she was the first woman to have a photograph on the cover of Rolling Stone. She married Paul McCartney, played in Wings and pioneered a widely sold vegetarian food line. Born Linda Eastman, she came from a Jewish family: her father was the son of Belarusian Jewish immigrants and her mother was from a German-Jewish family.
