Leopold Godowsky is recognized among Jewish contributors to Arts & Literature — Pianist and composer famed for his transcendentally difficult Chopin studies
Godowsky was a virtuoso pianist and composer, dubbed the 'Buddha of the Piano', celebrated for his theories of relaxed weight and economy of motion in piano technique and for his transcendentally difficult '53 Studies on Chopin's Études'. Largely self-taught, he became one of the most admired keyboard artists of his era. He was born to Jewish parents in Lithuania and later became an American citizen.
