Joseph ibn Kaspi (Yosef Caspi) was a Provencal Jewish philosopher, grammarian, and biblical exegete who wrote rationalist commentaries in the Maimonidean tradition alongside works on Hebrew grammar and logic. A prolific and independent-minded scholar, he traveled widely and urged the systematic study of language and reason in interpreting Scripture. He was a Jewish thinker of medieval Provence.
