Jorge Drexler is a Uruguayan singer-songwriter (and trained physician) who won the 2004 Academy Award for Best Original Song for 'Al Otro Lado del Río' from 'The Motorcycle Diaries', the first song in Spanish to win the Oscar. He later won multiple Latin Grammy Awards. He is Jewish; his father was a German Jewish refugee whose family fled Nazi Germany.
