American film and television director, writer and producer. He directed the acclaimed 1981 film 'The Chosen,' based on Chaim Potok's novel of two Jewish boys in 1940s Brooklyn, and won an Emmy for directing. The son of Rabbi Henry Enoch Kagan, he is Jewish and has long taught directing at USC.
