How & why

István Kertész was a Hungarian-born conductor celebrated for his recordings of Dvořák and Mozart and his tenures with the Cologne Opera and the London Symphony Orchestra. His career was cut short when he drowned while swimming in the Mediterranean off the Israeli coast. He was Jewish and survived the Holocaust as a child in Budapest.
