Henry Kahane

Henry Kahane was a German-born American linguist and long-time professor at the University of Illinois, a leading scholar of Romance and Mediterranean languages and of the cultural contacts that shaped them. Forced to flee Nazi Germany as a Jew, he built, often with his wife Renée, a distinguished body of work on lexical and cultural exchange across the Mediterranean.
