Hans Leopold Meyer was an Austrian organic chemist and professor at the German University in Prague, renowned for developing precise qualitative and quantitative methods to identify functional groups in organic compounds, set out in his influential textbook on the analysis of organic radicals. Dismissed in 1939 because of his Jewish ancestry, he was deported and died in the Theresienstadt ghetto in 1942. He was Jewish.
