Gerald Caplan

Gerald Caplan was a psychiatrist regarded as a founder of community psychiatry and preventive mental health, developing influential theories of crisis intervention and social support. He worked at Harvard and later in Israel, shaping mental-health services worldwide. Caplan was Jewish, born to a Jewish family in Liverpool, and spent his final decades in Jerusalem.
