Franco Modigliani is recognized among Jewish contributors to Economics & Business — Life-Cycle Hypothesis
Modigliani left fascist Italy in 1939 to escape its antisemitic racial laws and settled in the United States. He formulated the life-cycle hypothesis, explaining how people save and spend across a lifetime, and co-authored the Modigliani-Miller theorems on corporate finance, work honoured with the 1985 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. He came from an Italian Jewish family.
