Felix Browder is recognized among Jewish contributors to Science & Medicine — Nonlinear functional analysis; monotone operator theory
Browder was a mathematician who built much of the modern theory of nonlinear functional analysis, especially the theory of monotone operators used to solve nonlinear partial differential equations. A child prodigy who entered MIT at sixteen, he later received the U.S. National Medal of Science. He was born in Moscow to Earl Browder and Raissa Berkmann, a Russian-Jewish émigré, giving him Jewish maternal ancestry.
