Everett Gendler was an American Reform rabbi who marched in Albany, Birmingham and Selma and helped persuade Abraham Joshua Heschel to join the 1965 Selma-to-Montgomery march. He arranged Martin Luther King Jr.'s address to the Rabbinical Assembly shortly before King's death and is also known as a father of Jewish environmentalism. His activism flowed from a deep commitment to Jewish nonviolence and justice.
