Erez Safar

Safar is an American-Israeli musician, DJ and producer (performing as DJ Handler and later Diwon) who founded the Sephardic Music Festival in New York in 2005 to celebrate Sephardic and Mizrahi Jewish musical heritage. Through his Shemspeed label and network he has promoted Jewish and Middle Eastern artists and blended traditional Jewish sounds with hip-hop and electronic music. Of Yemenite Jewish descent, he is an observant Jew whose work centers on Jewish culture.
