Daniel Elazar

Daniel J. Elazar was an American-Israeli political scientist and a leading scholar of federalism, who traced the roots of modern federal systems to the biblical covenant tradition and analyzed how covenantal ideas shaped constitutional politics. He founded the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs and wrote extensively on Jewish political tradition and American federalism. He was an observant Jew.
