Daan Frenkel

Frenkel, a Dutch scientist born in Amsterdam to a Jewish family that survived the war, is a leader in the computer simulation of soft matter, devising methods to compute free energies and to predict how colloids, polymers and liquid crystals self-assemble. His simulation techniques are used across physics, chemistry and materials science.
