Anita Pollitzer, born to a Jewish family in Charleston, was a National Woman's Party organizer and 'Silent Sentinel' who lobbied Tennessee legislators to secure the decisive 1920 ratification of the 19th Amendment. She later served as national chair of the National Woman's Party and campaigned for the Equal Rights Amendment. She is also remembered for introducing Georgia O'Keeffe's art to Alfred Stieglitz.
