How & why
Dubin was a hugely successful American lyricist, best known for his partnership with composer Harry Warren on Warner Bros. musicals of the 1930s, producing standards such as 'Tiptoe Through the Tulips', 'Lullaby of Broadway' and 'We're in the Money'. He won the first Academy Award for Best Original Song. He was born to a Russian Jewish family that had settled in Switzerland before emigrating to the United States.
