Abram Amsel

Amsel was an experimental psychologist known for 'frustration theory', which explained how the omission of an expected reward produces aversive emotional states that shape learning and persistence. He held posts at several North American universities, latterly the University of Texas at Austin, and was elected to the National Academy of Sciences. Reference works and this directory list him among Jewish scientists; his personal religious identity is not otherwise widely documented.
