Biography

Aaron Levie is recognized among Jewish contributors to Technology & Engineering — Co-founder and CEO of Box (2005), the enterprise cloud pioneer he launched from his USC dorm at twenty.

How & why

Raised in a Jewish family on Mercer Island, near Seattle, Aaron Levie left USC during his junior year in 2005 to launch Box with his childhood friend Dylan Smith — a college project on electronic storage that a cold e-mail turned into Mark Cuban's angel investment. Betting early that companies, not consumers, would pay for the cloud, he built Box into a pioneer of enterprise content management, took it public in 2015, and became one of Silicon Valley's wittiest public voices.
