A Canadian couple played a dice game on their yacht and asked Edwin Lowe to print copies as gifts; he asked for the rights instead and gave it a name from where he had first seen it played. Yahtzee sold slowly until Lowe realised it had to be demonstrated, and it is now one of the most played dice games on earth.
