Marvel's Thor reimagines the Norse thunder god as a modern superhero and became a cornerstone of the Avengers and blockbuster films. The character was created in 1962 by Stan Lee (born Stanley Lieber), his brother Larry Lieber and artist Jack Kirby (born Jacob Kurtzberg), all from Jewish-American families in New York.
