In 1993 three Israeli engineers founded Check Point and built FireWall-1, which popularized 'stateful inspection', the technique that tracks the state of network connections to filter traffic. This design became a foundation of modern network security used across the world. Its inventors, Gil Shwed, Marius Nacht and Shlomo Kramer, were Israeli Jews working in Israel.
