The modern long-endurance surveillance drone traces back to designs by Abraham Karem, often called the father of UAV technology, whose Albatross and Amber aircraft led to the Predator. Karem, a Jewish engineer raised in Israel, built his early prototypes before continuing his pioneering work in the United States.
