Kodachrome was one of the first successful color reversal films and shaped color photography and cinema for decades. It was invented by Leopold Mannes and Leopold Godowsky Jr., two professional musicians who developed the process and refined it at Eastman Kodak. Both came from prominent Jewish musical families, Mannes the son of violinist David Mannes and Godowsky the son of pianist Leopold Godowsky.
