The musical Chicago (1975), later the Oscar-winning 2002 film, has music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, the celebrated Broadway partnership behind Cabaret. Both Kander and Ebb were American Jews. Its satirical vaudeville staging made it one of the longest-running shows in Broadway history.
